Roots

SisterHood, Inc was founded and established in 1996 by Kesha Johnson-Clark who was then a 16 year old high school student who created a positive way to connect with other teens who were victims of sexual assault, rape and domestic abuse - her poetry and with that included spreading the word about RAINN. It then grew from her writing petition letters on revising sexual education courses to local officials to joining forces with the United Nations on the 34 Friends of the UNFPA campiagn to raise awareness at school and work on issue facing young women in developing countries.

By 2001, SisterHood, Inc helped to launced local campaigns and fund raising efforts for several national and global awareness initiatives such as Planned Parenthood Emergency Contraception Access - The Morning After Pill, D.A.T.A HIV/AIDS research, PROChoice USA, NOW Women's Macrh and various voter registration drives including MTV's Rock the Vote. There was a period during 2003 - 2007 in which our specific local campaign goals were met and volunteers along with our founder wanted to focus more on completing individual educational developmental plans and persuing professional careers.

Since shifting our efforts in 2010 onto Social Media and branching out with Green Afro Honey in affiliation with Brown Sugar Promotions LLC, SisterHood Inc is still pushing onward to inform and connect women to contribute to the new feminist movement for reproductive freedom including recent activity with W.O.R.D on the Hobby Lobby decision in 2014.
